IIPA Faculty Reaches Torpa (Tribals) "Village Development through PESA"

The Indian Institute of Public Administration (IIPA), New Delhi in collaboration with the  Indian Council of Social Science Research (ICSSR) is undertaking a two years research project entitled as  ‘PESA  and Left Wing Extremism : A Case Study of the affected Area of Jharkhand, Odisha and Chattisgarh’.

The project would be a rigorous piece of research highlighting a number of pertinent issues regarding the evaluation of extremism in the affected areas along with looking at PESA as one of the tools that can be successfully employed to check the spread of naxalism.

On account of the above, The Project Director , Dr Nupur Tiwari, Faculty , IIPA and the research team visited Torpa and Gumla block of Khunti District to collect  empirical field data  and Organised focus group Discussion with the villagers , Sarchpanch , Panchayat Secretaries, ward members and Media people .This discussion was to analyze village development plan and violent manifestation in naxal affected areas through proper  implementation of PESA in letter and spirit.
